As a brief follow-up to our 12/27/07 posting of our client's evaluation of Gisco's Mega Cut D edm wire, we have more to pass on to our interested readers.

This past week, I visited this customer, and spoke with the wire edm operators and engineers involved with this project. They were very pleased and excited with the results of the Gisco product.

Their initial statements were that they "decreased the cycle time by 1 hour 15 minutes" when using the Mega Cut D wire, versus the Hitachi edm wire they had previously used to cut these parts.

After further discussion, what I learned was that they were stacking six workpieces in the worktank of the wire machine at a time, and cutting through the I.D. of the components. As a reminder, they are cutting a "dovetail shape" on the inside diameter through the total length of the part. Approximate length of the piece is 6".

So what they realized by using the Mega Cut D wire was about 15-minutes per component in time saved. This particular customer is really busy, and the time savings has really excited them about the possibilities of time saved and profits increased.
